As of April 12th FAFSA corrections and additional schools can be added to your FAFSA!
I know it is a sore subject. The government has finally started processing FAFSAs so if you or your student log into the Student's studentaid.gov account it will show as processed. THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY. It will show what you are likely eligible for - loans, grants etc. but the final award package comes from the university not FAFSA. Also, FAFSA doesn't give out anything it is jut the form. You will see a SAI number that is not the amount you will have to pay for college. This is a number the university uses to determine your final aid package. This year is all new so there isn't a way to compare that number to prior years. Your student will get an email in their school email typically once their aid package has posted and they need to go into their account a
and accept the aid - especially the loans. The loans can't be processed until they accept them (along with a few other steps if it is the first year which I'll cover in a later post). I am happy to help if you have general aid questions or you can call the financial aid office and they can answer specific questions once they have finalized your paperwork. Just be sure if your kid is over 18 that they have given permission for you to talk to them.
